St Johns School & Akrotiri (Cyprus) Nostalgia Page

The story so far...

The Astra cinema, Akrotiri

My Dad was in the RAF, and one of his postings was to Cyprus, around September 1986. I was just 11 years old when we left for the hot and pleasant land, and I ended up going to the same school as most other children who lived in either Akrotiri (as I did), Episkopi or Berengaria, and that was St Johns. And what a great time I had until I left in July 1989!

So this page is basically for those who fancy a chat with anyone else about Cyprus. Ah, BFBS, SSVC, the Astra, the beaches, water skiing etc... Drop by, send us your name and email, and I'll put it on the page and anybody else who drops by and thinks "I remember that name!" may just send you a discrete letter of hello. Pictures might also be a good idea, since I can't remember the names of hardly anyone I went to school with, but would probably remember a face.

I used to live at 23 Queens Road between 1986 and 1989. During the 3 years I was at St. Johns, I was in the tutor groups 1HN, 2HN (I think) and 3DY. I spent most of my time at either the sailing club or the water-ski club (WCSWSC). I also won the All Island Junior Table Tennis Champion in 1988, though strangely it only seemed to involve people from St Johns. If I find any photos of what I looked like in Cyprus, I'll add them here. I still have the ID card handy that we were all given sometime in 1988.

Here is a gallery of all the pictures I've found.
